olds parts
i have a few parts i need to sell and nobody wants olds stuff on craigslist so i came here, i have: 65 olds b casting big block intake with square bore factory 4 jet, 2 x casting olds 455 factory intakes from toronado probably early 70s?, i have 3 extra exhaust manifolds from olds big blocks, i will get castings soon, olds big block standard trans flywheel, olds 455 j heads, olds 425 factory pistons -very shallow dish top. i dont really have a price set on anything and need to get it all out of the garage so make me an offer. im willing to trade for 60 over 455 pistons or any pistons with that overall bore size , or a 455 aluminum intake, or a 455 cam and lifter set. thanks!!

there are two different bolt patterns for the early 400,425 and all 455s. they will not
interchange. unless you egg out the holes. and the balance between the two
would be different.
sorry to rain on your parade. just trying to help the both of you guys.

Thanks for the info. I did not know they were different. My motor (455) is a 74, will any year flywheel from a 455 work? Or am I just stuck with an automatic?? Any help would be great!

not all cranks have the pilot hole for the pilot bearing. and not
all blocks have the clutch fork pivot ball boss on the driver side of engine.
Both of these problems can be overcome w/ the right parts.

I'm swaping out a small block for the big block, and it does have the pivot ball boss in the big block but I'm not sure about the pilot hole for the pilot bearing....I'll have to take a look. If not will I need a new crank? I really want to run this motor with the 4 speed, but I do have a good automatic too.

there are a few options you can go with for the pilot hole.
1. a different crank.
2. have your crank machined.
3. there are companies out there that sell a special bearing for doing this.
you may have to cut some of the shaft on your trans. I have
seen this done and it works. Some people don't recommend doing this,
but there are a lot of them out there working fine. I have never
heard of any that failed.
