NOS Ignition Switch Lock 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 Hurst Olds

Vintage NOS GM in the original box. Uncoded ignition switch lock for the 1969 cars. A locksmith will code it to match your original key. Part # 7025216. This exact style was only used in 1969. Box flap is dated July, 1968. $65.00, includes safe insured U.S. shipping. PM me if interested.

Is this also correct for 1970 or are they different?

This is the supersession "replacement" for the silver, not chromed, original style with the red triangle pointer that came on the cars from the factory, which was p/n 70252176.

I thought this was the "one year only" ignition switch for '69 Oldsmobiles. It's the original from my '69 4-4-2, a kind of "brushed" finish on the chrome part.

The 1970 ignition and door locks use a different key blank than do the 1969 cars. The 1969 cars use am "E" key blank, the 1970 cars use a "J" blank.

It is. And for the '70 model year the same style but with a shiny chrome finish instead of the "satin chrome" finish that your '69 switch has. The one advertised is a GM parts replacement version.

Sorry, my mistake. I should have just looked at my 69 steering column. I think the style listed was used on the 69 Chevrolets.

As of 1979, your ignition switch is listed in the Oldsmobile parts catalog as "69- ALL", as well as for Cadillac, Chevrolet, etc., and of course eventually it got superseded with the 20071252 cylinder with keys package a couple of years later, which was already a replacement for 74-75 Oldsmobiles.

So yeah, it is a replacement for 69 Olds, but it's a functional replacement, not the OG style.
