NOS fenders for 1971, 72 Cutlass, 442, etc.

Hi, I have a 1970 W-31 that I'd like some NOS fenders for. I "have" a NOS set of 71, 72 front fenders that I'd be willing to barter with. I had bought these waaaay back in the dark ages, figuring to be using them on the W-31. Turns out thet the "bumps" make them "correct" for the 71, 72's only, whereas the ones on the 1970 are "smooth". If I don't have any luck, I'll be posting them on eBay (to end Nov. 29th) and then deal with getting the set for my W-31 at a later time. Thanks for all! Jon Kicks1028@aol.com Manchester, NH

Good luck finding 70s. I have never seen any for sale NOS. Always '71-'72 style. You may have to use some good quaility used for the correct look. Those are out there. How bad are yours? JKaz

I wonder if they used up all the '70 fenders on the early 71's'?
I heard the '70 fenders sat in boxcars on sidings for months becuse of the '70 strike.

My '71 had '70 fenders and I see others so if you're looking for clean used most guys don't know the difference and sell them as '71's and not the 1970/'71 flat type. When you see their pics it sticks out like a sore thumb if you know what you're looking for.

I did see a thing somewhere where they cut a section out of the ripples then flattened and welded them on NOS '71-2 fenders to make them look like '70's.

My fenders are well... from the northeast, so there's not a lot left down low. I hate to be cutting into "healty tissue", as the Docs put it (with these NOS ones). That does put me onto an idea of using the upper "straight" sections from my 70 and then kill a perfectly good set of decent "used" 71 / 72 ones to marry them together. I'll have to look at where the joints are. The plasma cutter & welder? Screw it... duck tape! Thank you all for making me "think" from a different angle.

I've also seen an original owner 71 with flat ridge fenders

The bumps aren't the only way to tell a 70 from a 71/72
