A 43 MX is a factory rebuilt "high heat" high torque starter. When I worked for Oldsmobile, we used those on any 455 high compression engines that had a hot starting issue. The parts department stocked them.

Here is another picture, I guess it pays to read, I see the factory rebuild sticker DUH! Ok so its a factory replacement starter, High Torque and in the box was an envelope with the double threaded bolt and nut for the starter brace.

So your saying this should work on a 455 any yr, even though numbers on solenoid say 67? and other member say 64 330 for starter and another says 67?

The "43MX" is the factory designation for a rebuilt high torque, high heat starter. The number stamped on the starter housing is the original factory number used to identify the starter when new. It has no bearing on the application of the rebuilt unit.

I gotcha thx. So what we have is a starter that began its life as a 67 starter (indicated by stamping) but has now been rebuilt by factory for high torque and high heat applications and labeled 43MX.
Does the 43MX have any other applications other than high comp 455?

Olds starters are "generic", in that they will bolt up to an function fine on most Olds and Pontiac V-8 engines. You can use a high torque starter on any engine; just not the other way around. It would be overkill on a low compression, small block engine, but would sure spin it over fast!
