Hi Kace,

They are meant to be OEM stock replacements so they fit 2" exhaust pipe.

Yeah, I did the same thing with my 'vert. These tips are really for a stock setup. NP. thanks for the headsup.

Any shop can put these on a tool that swells the pipe to any diameter. These can be used on a 2 1/2 inch setup. Just fyi.

Good point Z. And there will be basically zero backpressure by the time the exhaust gets to the tips so no hp loss. Thanks for the input.

Another buyer must know this also. SOLD pending payment to Ken.

trumpet tips

have a 1970 cutlass vert 442 clone ,455,with flowmaster 2.5 exhaust system, cutouts in bumper but straight ends at the cutouts. would like to add trumpets. my question is the end of the pipe diameter is exactly 2.5". would the the 2.5 aftermarket tips that they sell, fit over, slip into,or butt directly (welded) against the tailpipe? three inches is the next size up and that sounds a tad too big...also i'm thinking that slip-on means over the tailpipe? and clamp-on means into the tail pipe? or do i have bass-ackwards?...is pypes the best brand?....thanks for any info

Get the 2.5" tip. Like a previous posted noted, they can be stretched if need be or both shortened & butt welded.

Expanding any exhaust tip or pipe by 1/2" is not an easy and automatic task without the likely hood of splitting or damaging the pipe.

Get the 2.5 inch Pypes trumpet tips, they can be welded right onto your 2.5 inch system. I have them on my 68 442. 2.5 inch system from the motor back all welded no clamps with 50 series Flowmaster mufflers.
