FS GM '69 -'72 AQ2 Electric Seat Back Release, Strato Bucket Seat, Strato Bench Seat
Please read thoroughly!
This setup was removed from a 1969 Eldorado with a Strato Bench seat. Physically this will work on any 69-72 GM bucket seat
or '69 & '70 Strato Bench seat (Riviera, Toronado, & Eldorado).
Cadillac did not follow the wiring of the other divisions. Instead of the door flow-through switches supplying 12V to the relay when the door
was opened, Cadillac grounded the relay with the door switches when the door was opened.
2 possible solutions:
1) Use the existing relay and connect the 2 orange wires from the provided switches to ground.
2) Use a relay that requires 12v to energize. 68-72 A Olds A bodies with either power windows or electric power door locks have the correct
relay. It is located in the drivers cowl.
I've supplied 2 switches and connectors and spliced on orange and yellow wires. You will need more wire to connect the 2 switches to the relay.
Switches checked for continuity, they are OK, but physically they may not work as initially the switch adjusts to the door of the original car.
Relay checked, OK.
Solenoids checked, OK.
The relay harness will need to be cleaned up of unused wires.
I've also included all the hardware and 2 grounding straps. The grounding straps would typically connect from the release mech to the release mech seat
base bolts.
The grommets that allow the wire from the seat back to the seat bottom are not included.
The 1969 or 70 Fisher Body book has some info on the setup.
