This is a good deal for a engine that was built by a very respectable guy! Take the guess work out, time at machine shop and buy it.

Bump for a great deal

Bump for a fabulous deal.

OK all you CO cheapskates let me break this down for you.

468 cid = $13.88 / cubic inch

482 hp = $13.49 / HP

507 TQ = $12.82 / LB Ft

Any way you slice it you can not build performance for this sort of money. Add in that Milan pulled the wrenches on this & it is a no brainer.

If you want a BBO that will tear your fillings out then step out from behind your keyboard & step UP!

This is an honest $10000.00 engine for $6500.00 & if you snooze you lose.

Good Luck with the sale

I'm sure it's a smoking hot deal but probably like most of us cheapskates money is tight and a $6500 engine is just a little out of the budget .Good luck though .

Thanks Dave. I dont think alot of people know what it takes to build a good motor. Here is a (aluminum head) 455 on ebay. Has Cheap pistons, stock rods, just a cheap build with aluminum heads. I bet doesnt make more then 400hp $7000 http://www.ebay.com/itm/OLDSMOBILE-4...47a066&vxp=mtr

Can't go wrong with motor and price. Running a 468 BBO in my 65 starfire smaller cam higher compression. If I had a project car I'd jump on this deal. Makes me want to find a 442 roller.

Pretty much sums it up. For those of you not familiar with Milan he is well respected in the Olds powered racing circle. You could drop this in a stock weight A body and run mid 11's all day long.

This is a curiosity question as I have
just finished a similar build, and I agree the asking price is very good.

The HP number would suggest the heads have been ported extensively.
Yes?

No, no port work at all. The power comes from the larger valves and the custom ground cam.

And on top of it all, this motor was built strong enough to handle more power. So if someone wanted they could get the heads ported or get some CNC edelbrocks and make more power. Or even spray it some. This motor is well built!

Interested. Cost to ship to 32327? Estimated ET s in a 3650# w/driver, Turbo Action turbo 400 w/JW 9" 3400 stall (flashes to 3,900), 4:10 Moser 12 bolt rear and 29.5X10.50X15 Mickeys. Currently runs 7:02 ETs @ 97 mph in the 1/8 with current engine and I shift 1-2 @ 5900 rpm and 2-3 @ 5700 rpm. It is a 461 cu 1970 block making 459 HP and 479 torque, solid lifter Bullet cam about same spec as yours 4* advanced, 850 HP Ultra carb. with one inch spacer on a ported Edelbrock RPM manifold , Harland Sharp 1:6 #5001 rollers, ported "E" heads with smaller valves than yours - 2.02 intakes and 1.680 exhaust.

Know it may be hard to advise on ETS with info I provided. It seems that this set-up is a step up. Want to run 6:80'ish in 1/8 so I can be competitive in the heads-up 7.00 class which is very big here in Florida. Have CASH in hand!

Understand this engine can make more power with other options ($$$), which I am not interested in doing.

Hey Dave

Honestly im not qualified to make an accurate estimation for ET. But as you said giving the dyno numbers this is a step up. Also keep in mind we only made maybe 5 passes on the dyno. We didnt do everything we could to try and get the most power out of it. So im sure with minor tweeking you can still get a few more ponies out of it. Quote shipped to a residence to that zip would be $436 or $386 if you pick it up at a terminal in Tallahassee. But it would be an additional $100 for me to build a solid crate for shipping. Thanks for your interest.

Hmmmm, I am already running 11:20 s ET s in the 1/4!!!!!!!!!! Mostly 1/8 mile tracks near me, so looks like I will go with more gear in my spare 12 bolt Moser rear end and swap out the 4:10 for a 4:56 or 4:88.

Thanks f-85 for your response.

By any chance, has the crank been machined for a stick? And, have you gotten any shipping quotes to other states? I'm in Maryland zone 21152.

I'll be honest ... if I didn't let my daughter drive my car from time to time, I'd rent a pickup and swing by just to keep it in reserve at that price. I don't even want to consider what she'd do with that much under her little right foot.

I have considered maybe dropping this in place of the Bowtie 305 in the Parisienne ... 482hp backed with a freshly rebuilt th-200c. How far do you think the pieces would fly?

Maybe you need to do what GM did and under rate the horsepower.
