Based on the curly Q choke pipe, that 455 is from a 442 and therefore would be a large intake valve version. Good selling feature.

The curly choke tube was only used on the 442?

That's my understanding. My 442 has the curly Q and my 2 455 SXs just use a simple C shape with a tail to the stove. This also ties in with the Olds parts books I have. It is part number 407016 and was also used on 72 455s with OAI. 72s though would have Ga heads.

You are correct. The automatic 442 in 70 & 71 got the curly bent choke hot air tube and the manual 442 in 70 & 71, and the other models, got the single bend choke hot air tube.
