71/72 Power Bench Seat with Arm Rest

I have for sale a power bench seat out of a 72 442. The seat is in working condition and no major tears but is 44 years old and could use a new cover. This is a great driver quality seat and the stainless is in nice condition.

I am asking $450 OBO, Please PM me if you have any questions. I am in a southwest suburb of Chicago.

Thanks

Found left/right floor mounts.

FYI, that's not a "split bench", that's simply a bench seat for a 2dr. A split bench has two separate halves that can move forward and backward independently. They are essentially wide bucket seats that touch in the center. Later Cutlii and full size cars did offer true split bench seats (in both 2dr and 4dr versions).

I hope you have the proper mounting brackets that were welded in the floor. They are a necessity in order to mount them in a non power seat car. That seat is generally known as a notch back seat, and the power option is a great feature as it gives you a much greater range of adjustability.
You may have a much greater chance of selling just the tracks when considering the shipping costs. The track also works with a regular Cutlass bench or any A-body of the era. Do you have the wiring to the fuse block and the circuit breaker on the firewall?

Thanks Joe,

I revised my ad, I tried to describe the split for the arm rest.

Thanks

FYI, this is the RPO A65 Custom Sport Front Seat, only available on the Cutlass Supreme coupe and convertible for 1971-72.

Joe or KZ442, do you know if your seat will fit a non power seat car without mortifications? I have a 71 supreme convertible with non power white interior. Based on what the original owner told me, my car sat for 19 years with a front fender standing up in the front seat. It sank over time. Not sure yet of cost to get it to Arizona. Thanks for any response.

Joe,
A65, manual or power, was also available in the 4 door Supreme in at least '72, probably '70 & '71 also?

Scott,

You are correct. I was focused on the option listing in the SPECS booklet that shows only coupe and convertible, but if you look at standard equipment for the Supreme, ALL more-door Supremes got the Custom Sport front seat. Two door Supremes came with buckets as standard equipment; which is why the Custom Sport seat was only available on those - it was already part of the four door models. This applies to 1971 model year also. I don't have the 1970 SPECS booklet, so I can't say for sure. Note that the four door version does not fold forward for access to the back seat and thus can't be used in a two door car.

I bought a 72 U code hardtop sedan a handful of years ago and was really surprised to see the armrest bench seat in it. Like you said the little lever on the back was not even there and the seat backs were fixed in place. It was a hundred percent correct but it sure did look weird. It was a power bench also.

My 72 CS has a manual cloth custom sport seat (A65). I was bummed when I saw bucket seats were standard. I know my brother bought it off the dealer lot. I remember the day he, our dad, and I went to look at the car and take it for a test drive. But it is what it is...

Digging thru my parts I did find the left and right seat floor mounts for my power bench seat I cut out when I converted my 442 to bucket seats. I believe I didn't have to modify the existing floor mounts. Please see attached pictures.

Thanks

the fronts are mounted in the stock location, just like a manual bench, those are rear brackets and are correct for a power bench, looks like someone cut half of one off...but doesnt really hurt it..GM over engineers most of that stuff..

really hard to get...and are crucial for proper mounting...in other words, you must have them, because the power track is so short and with out those brackets, the seat will never sit right and lean back, a lot, because they space up the mount, those sit right in a valley..

very fortunate to have them, thats for sure...and they are power bench specific

Thanks Mark for confirming my take on the bracket issue. I recently ran into the situation locally where a guy tried to tell me the seat assembly would just bolt in. I explained the bracket issue but he wouldn't accept my explanation. As an operating unit, the power track set up is worthless without the brackets.
Thanks for explaining about the short bracket, that it must have been cut, as I was wondering why it was different from the left one.
KZ442, as Mark explained, you are very fortunate you hung onto them.

Since many of these posts are old, I'd encourage you to create a parts wanted thread. And please include your location so members who might offer up a seat would know if your close enough to drive and get it or need it shipped very far.

P.S. welcome to the site! when you have time please create a post in the newbie section telling us about your car. John
