71-72 Cutlass sport mirrors

Driver side has a cracked glass but moves free. The passenger side has nice glass but mirror is stuck. I just picked them up today so I did not take them apart to see if I could free up the passenger side. Mounting brackets, gaskets, screws and door panel molding included. This car was literally headed to the crusher on the fork truck. I stopped them just before they set it in the crusher. several good parts I could not get. so sad. $60 shipped in the USA with a USPS flat rate box.

My mirrors ar good but the support casing around the remote control handle at the end of the cable is broken. Do you know if the cable can be transfered to my mirror?

I am not sure? I have never looked at them close enough to know if that could be done. If I get time tonight I will take it apart and look at the back side to see. I don't think you can.

It can be done but it is tough. You need to compress the adjustment lever towards the body while simultaneously pulling the cable body backwards out of the housing then you can disengage the end of the cable with the stop on it. Must do this for all 3. Then reverse the procedure while keeping the cables in order or else the mirror won't adjust in the right order. Might be easier to paint the used mirror and replace the glass.

Is there a support bracket inside the door for these mirrors? I always see one listed on ebay but have not seen a reference to it in any of the service manuals I have. Sure it wouldn't hurt but is it necessary?

Thanks.

They are welded to the inside of the door I think. I am not sure if a non sport mirror passenger side door still has the bracket on it or not. I would think it would add a good amount of support.

70-82(?) camaro firebirds use the same mirrors as 71-72 cutlass 442. You can pull the insides and install them in your housing. Passenger side glass after 76(?) have the convex glass with the "Objects in the mirror are closer then they appear" text on them like most newer cars.
