Welcome to the site Marty! What part of the country are you located in? There's likely several members here who can help you with the parts, me included. But shipping doors will be expensive if going very far. If you would post your city/state/province you may luck out and find someone within driving distance that can help you. John

Also... does your tailgate have both the fold down and swing open or just fold down? They used different bumpers for the two different styles.

Welcome aboard Marty.
Just an FYI, you'll find some interchangeability with the Cutlass Cruiser, Vista Cruiser and some parts of the 4 door post sedans. Use 70 - 72 year ranges in your search.

It may be apart now, but how about some pics of what you're starting out with?

I have an NOS rear bumper for non dual action 70-72 flat top and vista wagons. Also should be getting a vista parts car soon. Where are you located?

Thanks all

I am in Cambridge ont, and if I could figure out how to post a picture of it I would.

there is a picture of it in my profile

70 cutlass wagon 1.jpg
70 cutlass wagon.jpg

Bumper is shot....
Front doors are about the stage of repair or replace...
Fenders are at the replacement stage...
Trunk pan is completly done as the rear window in the tailgate was left open.
Tailgate: the power regulator is not attached to window as the cam brackets are MIA, which is causing the tailgate door to not operate correctly
And I have no spark, as I points is very new to me... Had it in My 66 laurention but it worked so never messed with it Lol
Thanks all

What is your email address? You can reply here or send me a pm. I'll send pics of what I have and you can email me pics of areas of the car you are talking about. If you can upload pics to photobucket or similar website than they can be posted in a message.

Front doors are the same as any 70-72 4dr post sedan, Vista Cruiser and of course station wagon.

I know the parts in the South and Western states will likely be less rusty. But since your in Canada I think it will be really spendy to ship to you. Possibilities would be if you could pick up in Buffalo NY at the greyhound bus station, or if the seller secured everything to a pallet and shipped freight. If you could make a road trip to Indiana you might find all you need from Scott (oldspackrat) and/or Eric (jensenracing) and gather the parts in one trip. Looks like 450 miles to Indy. Not sure, but there may be other members in the Detroit area which would be closer yet.

P.S. Henry, thanks for pointing out 4 door cars and Vista Cruiser wagons having the correct front doors. Allan mentioned they had parts in common but this spelled it out. I thought that might be the case but wasn't sure. That will broaden the number of parts cars that will help the OP

I just looked at your pictures. You do have the two way bumper with the notch cut out. You'll need the same one because of the dual function of your tailgate.

remember cutlass cruiser wagon rear doors are different than vista cruiser rear doors. Vistas overall have a longer wheelbase. and welcome to the site and flat top club!wagon-1.jpg

tailgate issues

Anyone have a lower tailgate latch, mine is mia and I believe that is causing the gate not to open as a tail gate and only opens about a foot with the swing action... Also the window sashes are gone...
I will post pictures tomorrow of the gate and floor.

thanks Marty

Welcome to the group Marty. There is old car yard about an hour from me and if I recollect there may be a few Cutlass sedans. Maybe I will be able to at least help out a bit once weather gets a little nicer. The group here is wonderful, thanks to them I have obtained parts I never thought I could get. I do have a bumper sitting in my garage, it is straight, but the chrome would need a heck of a polishing to make it semi-decent. Not rusted, heavily undercoated on the backside and brackets.

Marty, how does the underside look? If you have that much rust in the doors I'm wondering if the frame is solid. Have you put it on a lift to inspect the undercarriage?

Its not perfect but, there is a small hole near the left rear tire... I think the majority of the rust issue is from windows being open and door seals (window felts) missing...car has been sitting a while in some really crappy conditions in Ontario the last 3-4 years.
Eventually I will do frame off, for now I will do the MTO requirements and drive it for a bit, while I increase funds and space.

I concur with 2blu442 about the underside frame as well Marty. If this is the one I did indeed see in Ottawa years ago, it was oiled, and hopefully the box sections in the frame got it too. It saw little driving in the region so hopefully the oil stayed in the frame and helped it out. Now I see what you mean about the rear compartment being damaged due to the back window being left open. Sigh. I am sure folks on the forum have spare cargo compartment doors. Howie.

OK, I just wanted to be sure you didn't buy a bunch of parts only to find the platform to install them on is too far gone to fix.

Have you got any leads close to home on the parts you need?

No I have not received much yet, looking into making a sheet of diamond plate aluminum for the rear compartment cover. I have been looking for parts, there is a huge swap meet coming real soon in Barrie ont that I plan on attending and hopefully retrieve a few parts to get it going.
thanks john and Howie
