Putting these on here for a member who had PM'd me about them. I will give them first chance, but go ahead and post if you are interested so I know who to go to next should they not want them.
A few small dents and scratches here and there. I did not do much to them today. Just a microfiber cloth and some water. When Eric had the car he cleaned them up a bit to make them shine, but they are not refinished and could possibly use that process depending on how nice of a car you are putting them on. Could maybe look amazing just using the steel wool trick.
Probably won't find another this nice that hasn't been refinished. Hard to believe condition for almost 50 years old.
Shipping to USA is $15. $215 Rare H/O parts. Any questions, ask!
If I had to make a guess, I would think the weight would be different because they built everything so much more solid back then. As far as visual identification goes to spot the real deal vs a repop, well I'd be interested in knowing that also.
The reason I'm so curious, When I bought my [non original engine] 69 H/O it came with a set, I took them off when I re worked the engine and put a repo set on. Layer the car was sold and I still have the "Maybe" original chrome valve covers sitting in the garage, I'd like for someone restoring a 69 H/O to have them but don't want to mis represent what they are
Who is selling repop CHROMED and NOTCHED covers??? link??, etc?
EDIT: I'm not aware of anyone selling repro CHROMED notched covers. You may have seen a pic of some "bright" looking covers, for example, on Fusick's site but those are not chrome and their description reads "ready to paint". Also...the Fusick price matches the bare steel Thornton price (ie - chrome would be MUCH more price-wise).
Thornton, who makes the repro covers, sells them in bare steel and used to show them in a zinc plated finish that looks almost like chrome....probably the pic that Fusick is using.
