69-72 3 Spoke Buick/Chevelle/Abody Leather Covered Sport Steering Wheel

This is a 15" 3 spoke sport steering wheel that I covered with a black leather steering wheel cover kit. The underlying plastic rim was a brown color but had hardened up somewhat and the texture wasn't in good shape so I decided to cover it. The underlying plastic rim WAS NOT CRACKED OR COMING APART, ETC...still very much intact and solid.

>Includes the original sport wheel mounting hub which I beadblasted clean and painted with black epoxy. You can leave it "as is" if you need a black hub or just scuff it with a Scotchbrite pad and paint over it if you need another color.

>Horn button mounting ring is also included.

>Brushed stainless spokes are in very nice condition.

>Rim and spokes are straight/flat....nothing bent or warped

If you are looking for something with a different look than the Oldsmobile 4 spoke wheel take a look. This would be great on a driver or any non-concours car. The rim is nice and thick with the cover on it so it has a great feel to it. I sewed the cover on using the sewing pattern that gives the thread the most "hidden" look to it...naturally, this was also the most time consuming option also.

I can also provide more pics

$125 + shipping.

No paypal. Check or MO is fine.

Thanks

Patton, I know I've seen a three spoke wood and fake wood on 1968 Cutlass/442 do you know how similar the Buick wheel is to the 1968 Olds three spoke? Did Olds use anything except the wood and fake wood 3 spoke wheels? John

John--I don't know a lot about the '68 steering wheels. The hub on this wheel is the same as an Olds 70-72 sport wheel hub (except for a relief the factory machined into it for the bottom spoke)....so it will work on any steering column from 69 on up (I'm not sure if the '68 columns are the same set up.

If you can find anyone with one of those dealer catalogs from '68 there may be pictures in there of the various steering wheels that were offered in '68.

Sounds well worth it. Olds 3 spoke wheels are worth big bucks.I have one in my car and picked up another back in 97 at the olds centennial in lansing and payed about that then.

Thumbs up Wood wheel

The '68 wood wheel has a smaller hub than the '69- which has the larger hub to acommodate the key and lock in the column stuff...I put one of those larger hubbed wheels on my daughters '68 convert and it is only overlapping about 1/8 inch...

I was told today that this wheel is the same as the '68 "wood" wheel in terms of the spoke pattern, fit, etc. Of course, the hub, as mentioned by Yellowstatue above, is slightly larger but it will also bolt up and work.
