68-69 Cutlass Radiator Top Plate

I can't tell if this is original or a repop. It has a W-30 sticker on it, but that don't mean spit. The Mondollar sticker MUST mean its a high dollar Chinesium part. LOL

Anyway, its got some holes drilled in it in some odd places, can't tell you if its a three core or four core. Has some odd bends to it so it needs a little hammer/dolly love.

$60

That's not a 68 top plate. Probably 69, maybe more years

Not a 66 or 67. They are almost the same as the 68 4 core

Mike, I think it's a 1968 without a fan shroud. I've got one like that and am pretty sure (but not positive!) that I pulled it from a 1968 Cutlass w/o AC or fan shroud. I'm guessing some of those extra holes may have been to add a shroud to the car.

Anybody have one like this still on a car?

68 without the fan shroud got the standard top plate if it didn't have heavy duty cooling and the 4 core top plate if it had heavy duty cooling. The top plates do not carry a different part numbers because (I assume) they came together with the core support of which there were two part numbers 398208 (standard core support) and 400824 (4 core).

I've never seen more than two type of top plates in 68 and the assembly manual doesn't show it either. I'm pretty sure the only cars that didn't have a shroud were MT W30's or W31's (W31's were all MT anyway). This isn't first hand knowledge, just facts I've pulled from the assembly manual

Maybe a full sized car then? I don't think the saddle in the closeup pictures is wide enough for a 4 row radiator. John, are the saddles the same size left and right? I've had several full sized car radiators that have one 4 row sized tank and one 3 row sized tank.

They appear to be manually widened.. lol aka "bent" so I can't tell what size they are supposed to be.

Its definitely NOT a 71-72. I have both styles of those off of cars I've stripped.

I don't know why things like this bug me until I figure them out

From the 70 assembly manual, I think this is it:
