68 442 TM code 31 spline differential bare housing
Nice original & very rare 31 spline 'O' axle 3.42 posi diff housing ONLY. Pulled from a 68 442 years ago & stored inside. Absolute minimal pitting and certainly no rot, it's from a west coast car. Again, it is just a BARE housing with the bearing caps & the clearly visible 'TM' stamp code on the right axle tube. The casting number on center section is 394139, with a date code of 5. No axles, brakes, posi, gears or 12 bolt cover included. It was not blown up, wrecked or modified in any way. All of the perches & mounts are in place as original/factory.
I know for a fact is was 31 spline because I removed & sold the axles & #672 posi unit w/ 3.42 gears from it a few years ago. The buyer didn't want to pay the freight to ship the entire assembly, so here the housing remains & now looking for a new home. This is valuable for a restoration where numbers match is important and you won't find a better condition housing with this desirable code. All of the internal parts for this are available brand new nowadays, if you can't find used pieces.
$400 plus whatever the shipping cost is. Probably Greyhound will be the cheapest, or maybe Fastenal. If you want to use Fastenal, the nearest store to me is Bremerton WA 98312. Greyhound would be from the Tacoma WA terminal, zip 98421.
I will get the photos posted in the next day, along with weight/dimensions so you can figure an approx ship cost.

Too late for Christmas!
I was referred here from some Buick V8 members. I needed exactly what you sold out of that housing! I have a 1970ish peg leg 3:42 Type "O" with a 12 bolt cover. On the prowl for a posi carrier. That 455 likes to paint asphalt with rubber! Thanks anyways, Bill in Two Rivers.
