I thought there was a wide interest in the 330 cranks,
but, what I've discovered is a wide range of bull shyt artists who
commit to buy then go silent leaving me hanging
waiting for payments that are supposed to be in the mail.
They don't even have the decency to say they decided they don't want it
to allow me to go to the next guy.
My reward for trying to extend courtesy of allowing first refusal
in the order they contacted me.
No more. First one to get the payment to me wins.
I'm not just talking about the casual hobbyist member, but,
well known and well regarded vendor/ builder types as well.

Giving an interested member the courtesy of first refusal and
time to make payment is a now a thing of the past for me.
Lost succeeding interested persons trying to be nice.
From now on, one week from committing to buy until I receive payment.
No more "checks in the mail" bullshyt.
Beware. Some of the names you know and trust don't deserve that trust.

It is hard when someone says ok will send you a check so you hold off on any other possible sale and then end up holding it.

I hear all the comment! I would add take this to the buyer feed back forum so other will know who not to save parts for till cash shows up. On this site i have dealt with good buyers and they know who they are! Thank you very much too all the good buyers saving me from this type of stuff.

 

X4 on that. Through out the years the parts that I have sold, I always took the other guys word and shipped before receiving payment. Figuring 95% of the time, the money was given to my charities thinking if I get ripped off and not paid that person will have to answer to God for it someday and move on. But from what you guys are saying I'm going to start requesting payment up front and set a 24 hour time limit on the payment. If that fails from a BS setup I will make it known to the other members in this club who this person is.

 

Didn't mean to imply that everyone is no longer trust worthy.
By far, the transactions I've had over the years have been positive and
the vast majority of the people I've dealt with have been great.
Maybe that has been the reason for my disappointment with
this sudden rash of unkept commitments on a single item.

I'm especially disappointed with one individual who is a respected
vendor/engine builder on this site who strung me along for six weeks
and just plain lied about sending a payment.
Don't want to go public with his name since I've never heard
any negatives from others about him.
For some reason it appears my dealing with him is the exception.

I don't do this for a living, so, money isn't the main issue.
For me the main issue is lack of courtesy.
I would have no problem if they would just let me know if
they changed their minds or decided they had been
too hasty in committing or what ever the reason.
It's always better to communicate rather than just go silent
or say "the checks in the mail" when it isn't.
It's possible that when I tell them I don't use Paypal
they back out. Fine just let me know.

 

I am the same now. I used to take paypal regular and now I no longer do. that is the result of two buyers who after getting the parts that were exactly as described stopped the paypal payment and then kept the parts as well. I was able to get paypal to make it right in time but it was a huge hassle.

I now only take it as friends and family. Takes a few to screw things up.

I do have to say for the most part I have had great luck. I have also starting marking my parts. I have had two parts returned that were not mine and expected a replacement or refund. I had one who told me that the water pump pulley I sold him was bent. I said ok send it back and I will replace it. He returned it and guess what? Yup not bent. I took one off an engine we were about to install and sent it to him and put the one he sent me on the engine. Yea it is still in my convertible to this day and works perfect.

I have had most issues with people from one state more than all the others combined. Any guess what state that is?
