Unhappy '66 98 convertible for parts

I have a '66 98 convertible - 99% complete - strictly for parts. It has only 87,700 miles on it and has been off the road since 1986. It has a 375HP Starfire 425 w/factory dual exhaust, correct code (OD) T400 trans and 3:08 posi (code QN) rear. The frame and body have a lot of rust. The engine runs rough - stuck lifters from sitting. It should make a good runner with a good bath, inside and out. Must be trailered out - no brakes. Can't part out here due to local politics. Located just off exit 7A of NJ Turnpike. Would like to get $800 for whole car. Call Bruce at 609-802-2033

I'd love to have this but it'll be at least a month before I can come up with that kind of money. I'm in a bit of a tight spot with the bills because my girlfriend just quit her job. Good luck selling it, I wish I could take it off your hands.

P.S. Out of curiosity, is it because of the rust that you say strictly for parts or is this car not road worthy? I don't really need a body and frame, but the entire drivetrain, headlights, and a few braking components would be very useful.

It is definitely not road worthy. I bought this car on e-Bay with the idea of possibly saving it but, up close and personal, it is too far gone. The frame is very weak and there is a lot of body panel rust. It spent it's entire life in the Northeast (Allentown, PA) and was stored in a poor garage environment that took it's toll. The value is in the drivetrain and other hard parts. It has an AM/FM radio but I don't know if it works because the speaker is shot and I have not really gotten into checking things out. I have had the car for a couple of years myself and did just enough to get it running a couple of times and it did move under it's own power - not too fast due to no brakes.

Unfortunately I expect it will be a while before I can afford it. If it's not sold by the time I have the money I'll be back for sure.

I suppose with a rusted car this may be silly, but do you have any pictures?

66 98

Where in Allentown did you get the car? I lived there from 1979-2004 and never saw a 66 98 ragtop.

It came from a man who lived at 630 Hanover Ave, Allentown. He purchased it 5/4/66
