when i look this intake casting up it shows used for 68-69 does it make since to you that its dated 71 ??

I believe the 71 is for the 71st day of the year. Not 1971. I do not know what the J is for though.

Yes, this is a 1968 / 1969 intake. The date code is for the Julian day code and does not represent the year it was made.
