Take a look here. AdvanceAuto - Rebuilt 12SI alternators, 61-63 amps (yours is 55), $30-$65.
If you want to test it, you can bring it to any chain auto parts store, and they should be able to do it for free.
Since you can buy a reman. for half of what you're asking, though, I doubt that being able to say it works will help much.

Are you missing a number on the alternator? Should that be 1100928 ? "I don't hear anything rattling inside" is not very encouraging to a prospective buyer. Have it tested. I didn't see (or best offer) on your ebay listing. You may want to edit your listing. Good luck.

Bill:
I have been watching some of your threads on here and I can see you are learning a lot. I know you are a youngster but you are very open to taking advice from some seasoned Oldsmobile veterans on here. It is nice to know these guys (Copper and Eric) are helping you out without being sarcastic. I think they are serving as good mentors. The only way you learn is asking questions and there are no dumb questions. This is the kind of stuff that makes this site work. Keep it up guys.

Thanks, Red.
I can get pretty sarcastic with some people, especially when they ask for the telepathic diagnosis while providing inadequate information, then don't follow the clear troubleshooting advice they asked for, all while the information they need is right in front of them in the Chassis Service Manual, but when someone has legitimate questions, wants to learn, and appears to have the basic capacity to assimilate information, then I, for one, will bend over backward for them.
I was lucky enough to have a Dad with a garage full of tools, a basement full of machines, and head full of knowledge to turn to when I couldn't figure something out, but not all of us (young or old) are that fortunate, and, I believe from a political and philosophical point of view, if we are to continue as a successful society, we need to breed as much self-sufficiency as we can, one person at a time, because the "powers that be" seem to be conspiring to wipe that trait off the face of the earth.

I am almost certain the alternator you have should be a 1100928 and not an 110092. You seem to be missing a number. I think you have the 1100928 and if so it is for a pontiac application possibly a gto. You will have a better chance to sell it if the info is correct. Please take a better look at the numbers or at least add pontiac in the ebay add as it will work on that application as well and may get more people to view it. I swear I see an 8 there even though it is lightly stamped.

Actually there is such a thing as a dumb question, he just hasn't asked one yet.
It is refreshing getting younger guys and gals on here and lately we've had quite a few. Everyone has done a great job in pointing them in the right direction.

Don't expect the Pontiac folks to beat a path to your door to buy it however....moving Pontiac parts is harder than selling Olds stuff from my experience (and from what some hardcore Pontiac buddies tell me).
While you took some good pics, you can't see REAL CLEARLY what's important to anyone looking for a specifically stamped part.

I just sold one that was rebuilt and dated June 1971 for $100.00 shipped. This 1100928 did not have the open faced end. I think the open face was last used on this number early 71. The open faced ones have a high value. With the right numbers, application and good pics, I think you may sell it. Do an ebay search of the new number and look for ones dated around the same as yours to get an approximate value. You can also search ebays sold items under that number to see what sold and for how much. If you will take $30.00 for it and don't want to use the OBO option then list it for $30.00 and hope someone bids it up. List it as a rebuildable core that spins freely (if it does) and mention the 8 is lightly stamped and hard to see. Whatever you do, do not lie or misrepresent it or you may end up refunding the money and shipping costs. I think for $30.00 you will have a good chance of selling it there. Good luck.
