1972 Service Manual

This appears to cover all Olds lines. It is in good shape and not all grimed up like a lot of these books are. There is a bit of staining on the front, like someone dropped some water on it, but it is not bad. It inside of it is nice and is all there.

This is an engine and chassis manual and NOT a body manual.

This is the factory manual and not an aftermarket one.

Asking $40 plus shipping from Oklahoma. I can send photos.

This is the repair manual tha the GM service techs used back then when doing repairs. I have one and it gets used a lot.
I consider it the best tool you can have if you own one of these old cars, whether you do the work yourself, or let others do it. Many modern mechanics do not know the workings of older cars. Also, you can see the complexity of a certain job and will help you to understand if a shop is trying to overcharge on labor or not.

This book covers, engine, tranny, suspension, electrical (with diagrams!), steering, A/C and heat, wheels, tires, front sheetmetal assy, and many of the options.

It does NOT include doors and any glass, wipers, seats, trim, power windows or locks, or body repair. This would be in the Fisher body manual (another great book to have!).

Fiona...

Yes, I still have the book. I can send photos, or maybe I can post one here. I just purchased a new camera, so loading a photo might take a bit.

The manual is in very good condition for one of these books. The cover has a bit of water staining on it, or perhaps carb cleaner, but the inside of the manual has none of the grease stains that are common with manuals like this. Whomever the previous owner was, before me that is, must have been very carefull with its' use.

I myself study a manual like this before doing a job and then make copies of the pages I am going to need for the job. The individual copies are much easier to deal with under the hood than the manual is, and the manual itself always stays clean.

As Lady72 said, this book will help a lot in the years to come. I don't care how good you are at auto repair there is nothng like a GM factory manual to help you save hours of time while doing repairs.

Shipping on this will likely be about $10 or less since it is printed material and will go at the lowest rate the US Postal Service offers.

Photos coming just as soon as I can get the new camera figured out.

Fiona...

I tried to post photos but was denied since a 'Security Token' is missing. I don't know how to correct this.

I sent you a PM with my e-mail. Send me a message and I can send the photos back to you.

Meanwhile, I will work with the site admin to get this Token thing worked out.

You must be on a "token ring" LAN. Sometime if your network cable gets unplugged, the token falls out and gets lost. Look around your computer for it. If you cannot find it, it might have got caught in the ethernet...

Really?
I've been having LAN problems, cat unplugged the cable from the router going after a mouse. I looked around and can't find anything on the floor, mouse may have eaten it.
I have a bunch of those wooden free drink tokens from the bar, will they work?

Lady72....

I will get to working on this. Thanks for the advice.

I am considered a VERY mechanical person. That's not really a suprise as the same could be said of most of the folks on this board, but this electronic stull is still, after 20 years, rather 'new' to me.

But you are never too old to learn!

I will start working on this right away.

No prob...

Just don't let your wife vacuum that room until you find the token. It is quite small. Without it, you will be up a creek without a paddle in a chickenwire canoe...

It is is in the ethernet, then a stack dump just might bring it back...
