How strange - the part numbers on the boxes don't match those on the grilles. But the tab system to hold the grill surround is exactly as GM did it, unlike the repops.

I found that weird also , some of the searches I did were confusing to? Never really came to a conclusion as why? Maybe someone else here can help

The hand written number on the box is from Dealership order to repair or possibly modify.. to a specific car or order number IE an over the counter special order
GM part number on the tag
Casting number on the part

Brian, that's what we're trying to figure out. the GM part number on the tag and the casting number on the part aren't the same. Maybe the box has a change up part number on it, because it would likely be too costly to modify the mold.

That is how things were done. The casting number and the GM part number are not the same.
That would have made much more sense.
I have other NOS grilles , moldings etc, They also have different casting numbers than what is printed on the box by general motors as "part number"

Yes, strange but true. I just looked up the grilles in my GM parts manual. The group and numbers on the GM tag are what the parts manual says. Interesting stuff.

The casting number is for the plastic grille without the trim piece. The trim piece will have another part number. The assembly part number is what is shown on the box and in the part manual.

PM sent.

Seems like a hell of a fair price. Surprised it’s taken this long to sell. Nos in the GM boxes. 😎👍
