Just out of my own curiosity, other than the numbers/dates, was there anything special about this over any other performance quadrajet?

I did a little research on these when I bought my W-31 because my carb is a "256" not a "255". Mine decoded as a W-30 4spd. carb. So the information I was told was that the only difference between the W-30 and W-31 carbs was 2 jet sizes. Neither carb had metering rods in the front, and the numbers on the jets didn't make sense to me at the time and was told that they use a 2bbl jet since there are no rods.

Don't shoot the messenger, as this is just what I was told. Sure runs hard though!!

I bought some secondary metering rods and primary jets when I rebuilt the carburetor just to tune it in a little more and it made a big difference.

With today's gas,you need to run different jets, compared to the originals.Mine has totally different pieces in it now.
