If you take the center section out,they can be shipped FedEx ground.You could even posistion the center sideways,to keep it included,but keep it from sticking out,and making the package larger.

I sold a spare 71 that I had.I have an NOS 72,but I am keeping it for my 72.I now have an aluminum core support in that car,but if I ever decide to change it back,I have that one.

I cut the weight in half.I remember the stock support weighed about 44-45lbs,and my aluminum support weighs right around 22-23lbs.I have the needed bracing & panels to mount the grilles,fenderwells,etc.Some of the other guys got a more stripped-down version that was under 20lbs.
The 70 stock supports weigh slightly less.I think 40-42 lbs.
