Minor point of interest but there was no harness in a 4 speed console. The rear lens was painted a dark grey. GLWS

 

No, you are correct, but there is a light inside the console storage and that requires a harness.

Yes you could add a harness to a 4 speed console and add that light. Absolutely. Just never came with any harness or light to begin with. My guess the thinking was with the greater number of moving parts like the shifter rods there was a concern the harness getting hung up and damaged.

 

Unless I am missing something the console would have had a harness regardless because of the light that comes on when you open the lid to the console storage. I have never seen a console that did not have a light in the console stoarge area but I haven't seen all of them so maybe...
