1969 Olds SSI 14x6 810 Disc Brake Wheel

I have a nice 14x6 disc brake SSI wheel code 810 LY wheel. In very good condition. $160 plus shipping from 55376. Black area needs refinishing. Lug holes not wore out either!

This 14X6 wheel is pretty rare and the wheel for sale is what I believe to be a fairly early production of it (3/26/69). The earlier 14X6 SSI wheels (code LE starting in the 1969 car production year) would not fit disc brakes. It's my understanding the LY wheel came into production sometime in March 1969 and eventually replaced the LE wheel as the LE supply ran out towards the end of the '69 car production year. My '69 (produced in the third week of May 1969) has disc brakes with the LY SSI wheels, all dated 5/16/69. I combed pick-n-pulls and pick-a-parts for a couple of years in Southern California in the late 1980s before finding a fifth LY wheel as my spare was missing. I suspect the reason there aren't many of the LY wheels around is that starting in the 1970 production year the standard SSI wheel went from 14X6 to 14X7.

Just for discussion, there are many SSIs. The originals, like Randy said, were 66 on, and were 14x6 and would not fit discs. The 69s, 14x6, would. The 70 SSI was a beauty ring wheel and was 14x7 as they all were from then on out. There was a small supplier issue, apparently, so there are some 14x7 no-beauty-ring, all chrome, 1971s that will fit disc brakes, and those are the ones to have. I have two sets of the 69 wheel for my 442 project.

I believe the 71 wheels were coded LZ. Maybe someone with the 71 wheels could confirm. But those fit disc's as well.

previous discussion of 833 rims...I think they are the deep dish style with the different offset but expertise I do not claim.

The Magnum 500 is a sort of a "style" but that actually IS a mag 500, see the 45 degree angled valve stem hole, as opposed to the Olds wheels, which are Mag 500 inspired
