********SOLD****** 1968 442 carb, 7028251. Dated 3527. This is a great carb for rebuilding or restoration. I don't think it was ever opened up. Everything moves freely. There are no problems that I see, or am aware of. $150.00, includes 48 state shipping. Sorry, no pay-pal. PM me if interested.

They were for both. the 8253 for the manual cars did not come out till late spring and is unknown how many were made and whether they actually landed on cars.

As I recall, the one and only '8253 ever actually seen appeared for discussion here a yr or 2 ago. ALMOST as rare as the Solid Main Web 403. Which has yet to be seen in captivity.

So, use the '8251 carb for pretty much all your big block needs. I believe there is an '8255, but it is almost as rare as the '8253. Next is the '8254 W30 after engine # 8342491, but I have two of those, so they can't be THAT rare.

The only '8255 I have seen on a car outside a car show was on a D headed engine in a Lansing car. May well have been a '68 H/O engine with its original '8255 carb... or a Lansing factory guy with access to anything, who put a '8255 carb and D heads onto some other engine. I cannot recall much about the car except it was very rusty, out of my price range at $1500, and was not a '68. 1972 perhaps?

here we go, the 1 and only:
https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...7028253-a.html

I have the TSB stating the Engine Unit Number after which '8254 became the W30 carb. Do I gotta find and scan and post that?

oh, here it is, done already

Technical Service Bulletin 68-T-18
EUN 8342491, 6/3/68 TSB date, pretty late in the year.

Evidently they used "vac-umm" advance- never noticed that typo before.

Adjust to get 6" [SIX INCHES ?!?!] of vacuum at idle...

Y're welcome.
