1965 Starfire coupe parts
1965 Starfire coupe parts
Well, my wife is real proud of me today. I spent my whole Labor day traveling to OH to drag home a parts car.
I bought this car for it's exhaust outlets, seat belts (rear) and engine.
I will begin parting it out tomorrow.
The car is very rusty ; the fenders, quarters, hood, deck lid have rot and I suppose the doors have rot as well. The cast aluminum pieces are rotting and turning to powder; most of the exterior chrome is pitted, the rear bumper has large rust holes in it. The interior is black with a black and woodgrain steering wheel and tilt column. The radio is a wonderbar, power qtr panel antenna.
If you need any parts let me know.

Shifter ****
Hello,
If the car has an automatic transmission, then I am interested in the gear selector ****. Actually I only need a few of the moving parts inside the ****, but it might be easier to just remove the whole unit rather than taking it apart. Here's a picture of what I'm looking for:

The cosmetic condition of the lever does not matter to me, so long as the mechanical linkage inside is functional.
Let me know if you are interested.

I will make sure to remove the shifter before the car goes. I need the engine but not the trans. I cannot state the condition of the trans other than it fliud is not new but decent condition and the car drove until the gas tank fell out of it. When the engine is pulled I'll make sure to drop the trans out.
Michigan winters must be bad. The frame is almost non exsistant of the drivers front corner (behind the steering gear box), it is so bad the car is visably sagging.

More parts
The more time passes, the more parts come to mind.
There are a few additional parts that I would love to get ahold of.
1. The glove box striker. This is the small metal plate that the glove box latch latches to.
2. The same piece on the console storage box.
3. Speedometer cable
4. Flare-stat assembly (the optional hazard lights)
5. Anything related to cruise control. Both the dashboard control and the regulator assembly on the engine.
4. Guide-matic power headlamp control.
5. The rare "Safety Sentinel" (thing that buzzes when you go past a certain speed)

Can't help with the Safty Sentinel, Guide-matic or cruise control because the car doesn't have them.
does this car by chance have the bottom taillights. if im not mistaken the starfire has the same tail lights as my dynamic 88. should be two sets. one at the top in the car body and then set in the lower part of the rear bumper. they will be square on one side and curve up into a point on the other side. if so what kind of shape are they in as far as chrome etc. what kind of money would you want for them. thanks chris
Nope. 1965 Starfire taillights and bumper were exclusive to the model. Jetstar I's and all series 88's used the same taillight assemblies.
For that reason, and the SF-only grille/headlights and exhaust, the 65 is arguably the most exclusive of the breed. I've always thought they were the best-looking of the 6-year run.

'65 Olds Starfire parts
Hi there,
Good find! There are very few parts Starfire's here in Quebec because most of them got chewed up by road salt! I'm interested in getting:
1) The tilt steering column,
2) the radio if it's AM/FM (if it works) and
3) a couple cigarette lighters (mind don't match).
4) I'd also like to know if you could sell me the center console trim. The aluminum bits on mine are really badly scuffed and dinged up. Probably from people just whipping off the seatbelt buckles and letting them smash into the console.
5) I also need the entire molding that goes around the passenger rear wheel. Mine is broken. and lastly,
6) The front side flasher assemblies and lenses. Mine are non-existant. Somebody just put a steel plate there.
Sounds like your parts car has a bit more equipment than mine. All I've got is power windows. I've got no A/C, no tilt, and just an AM radio. Plus no rear seatbelts. I've found some nice buckles and I'm having some new black belts made for them as we speak. My car is nice and straight and with the exception of a bit of rust in the inside rear quarters is pretty sound. How does yours look?

Its been a long time comingbut I took teh car to the scrapper this last weekend. Mister's parts were shipped out.
I did salvage the tilt column, woodgrain wheel
Wonderbar AM radio w/power qtr panel power antenna and antenna wire from radio to antenna, and footswitch for radio
seats
vaccum trunk release w vaccum can, glove box switch and hose to the deck lid
door and rear qtr interior cards
(5) special factory steel wheels, needed to run the N093 bolt on wheel covers
I will probably hold on to these parts until my convertible sells.

Hi Ted,
Wish I had spoken to you before you shipped it off. I need some moldings pretty badly. Ah well. Such is life. I'm still interested in the tilt column though. Wood whee? I had no idea these cars came with a wood steering wheel. What part is wood?
Anyhow, let me know when you're ready to part with the tilt, I'll probably buy it if can agree on a price.
Cheers!

I will keep you in mind. The outside moldings were real bad the stainless ones were dented and the aluminum ones were rotted away.
