1964 Jetstar 1 powertrain
1964 Jetstar 1 powertrain
I have a complete 394 4 barrel engine and tranny out of a Jetstar 1. Everything was running before sent in for body work. In very good shape. Can send pics to anyone interested. Also have a second tranny to go with original powertrain. Very clean and ready to bolt in. $1000 firm. PM me if interested and I can send codes and pics. Dean
I thought the title of the thread would explain this. This is from a 1964 car. I am in Warrenton, MO. Warrenton is half way between St. Louis and Columbia MO. At this point shipping is not an option. I can't imaging what it would take to ship an engine and tranny. The powertrain would need to be pulled from the car. This is from a partially restored car. The engine and tranny are very clean but has not ran in about a year. Pics available on request. Dean
The car was being restored by someone else that lost interest. I had a laundry list of items I needed to restore a 64 convertible. The powertrain on this car is not needed. Actually I have quite a few Jetstar 1 items that will be sold including a couple of rear glass windows. I could have finished the car but I would be back at square one on finding the items I wanted for my project. Made more sense to me to get what I needed and part the Jetstar out. Dean
I'm too much of a purist. I could never do that to an Oldsmobile. The convertible is getting a 66 425 with Holley throttle body injection and a long tail 400 tranny. The Jetstar 1 seats will go into the convertible which means modifying the floor to transfer the brackets to install the bucket seats. I am even using the B body 425 duel exhaust manifolds to have dual exhaust. I am even using the original radiator by using the early 330 water pump. When done most people will think this is the original factory install. Being a convertible of course there is no need for air conditioning. Even found original non air conditioning accessory brackets for the 425 set up. Dean

I am also looking at using the stock shifter from the Jetstar 1. I may have to fabricate a shift detent gate to make it work on the 400 but I have not started to see if that is possible yet. Like I said I want to make it look as factory as possible but put together the car I wanted Oldsmobile to make. Dean
It does not look like that will be needed. It is a tight fit but part of the advantage of using the S manifold to go around the steering box. It lets you drop the engine down further between the frames. I have sighted in the drivetrain and have adjustable linkage for the differential. Have not done the final alignment checks but it is looking very good. Also found a double hump cross member out of an A body and have modified it to mount to the frame. It also has some adjustment to it if needed for the alignment.

Wow. Sounds like you've got it under control. Best of luck.
Still for sale
This engine and transmission (with extra transmission) is still for sale. As you can see it is very clean and has the factory dual exhaust on it. It has not ran since the previous owner had started the restoration a couple of years ago but it has always been stored inside. I am looking at getting it running again but that will likely cause the price to go up. Dean
My friend wanted a Olds engine for his 33 Ford street rod and couldn't find one. So He ended up going with a Ford Yblock (I know...) Anyway I am really surprised this hasn't sold. Seems like a great deal. Have you tried advertising it on the HAMB? That site is crazy busy!
