I believe it should be stated as a 3/4 speed top plate.

 

Where would one find the other 1/4?

 

If it was for a three speed car it wouldn’t have the holes drilled in the shift pattern emblem.

 

I am pretty sure that the 3 speed and 4 speed used the same top plate, however this one has the 3 speed emblem. So, it can be used for either.

 

exactly correct as 3 speed was the base tranny, if you ordered the 4 speed they would install 4 speed plate over the 3speed guide

 

Hence the holes in the emblem.

Very nice piece Im in the market looks like some minor pitting I'm assuming its OEM been looking for one.do you have a view from the rear ? Im A 53027 near milw WI I could pick it up .Would be nice to personally inspect it Thanks Reggie
