1964-1966 Oldsmobile Starfire Console & Tachometer

SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD

I have a nice original 1964-1966 Starfire automatic console with factory console mounted tachometer. This is a nice original unit that was stored for years. Listed on ebay with no reserve and a $9.99 opening bid.

That's actually a 1964 Ninety Eight Custom Sports Coupe console. Still a nice piece. I was hoping it was 65-66 because I'd have bought it to get the PRNDSL shifter lens for a Slim Jim to THM conversion down the road.

Hi,

Just curious but what is the difference between the two? They looked identical to me.

Slim Jim shifter lens (64) is PNDSLR. A 64-5 Starfire console will have a four-pointed star emblem instead of the three-pointed rocketship (64 98 CSC) or Rocket (66). 65-66 88s could have these consoles too and had Rocket emblems.

Yeah, lot of minutiae, but shows how Oldsmobile (and everybody else back then) would make minor detail changes year-to-year.

No, the only '65-'66 Olds big cars (B-body) that would get consoles are the Jetstar 1 and Starfire. None of the other models could have bucket seats.
Right?

So if the emblem (top plate) was changed and the indicator lens, it would be the same?

Not 100% sure Kurt- but I think I remember seeing a buckets/console 66 Delta many years ago. Could have been an owner install but I remember the seat stitching being Delta and not Starfire.

Fast67- yes, other than those items, the 64-66 automatic trans consoles are the same. Maybe a little difference in the supports because of trans tunnel.

No mention of bucket seats or console availability in SPECS for either D88 series in 65 or 66... even with the 4-speed floor shifted trans option.

About ten years back I saw a green '66 Delta 88 coupe for sale on Ebay with matching green interior, and it had bucket seats and (auto) console. Sure looked factory to me. Of course I can't find the pic, but this was the color combo:

I honestly cannot recall the seat pattern, but even it it was the Delta pattern, I suppose its possible someone had it made to look factory.

My 2 66 Delta 88s are buckets with headrests and console cars. Could be just a Canadian thing not sure. Seat stitching looks the exact same as Starfire too.
