1963 Oldsmobile Super 88 rear chrome plated pot metal molding. Holy cow, is this thing epic! I can’t think of a larger pot metal casting on any car except for the lower ribbed molding on the ’66 Pontiac Bonneville. This part is about 74 inches long. The part number on back is 4876174. It has all 6 mounting tabs on back intact, and unbroken. It might be able to be used on the ’63 Dynamic 88, also. I did a similar thing on my personal ’66 Dynamic 88 convertible about 25 years ago. I went to the junk yard, and found a real nice ’66 Delta 88 rear piece, and screwed it to my car. It made it look so much better. I still have the car.

CONDITION-WISE, this thing is quite nice as 50-year pot metal goes. Often pieces in this location get badly pitted by either the exhaust gas, or road salt. This one is darn nice. The black paint sure could use a little touch-up, but it’s still very presentable as-is for a non-show car. The chrome is quite nice, but just not 100% perfect any more. It’s great, but just not nearly N.O.S., that’s all. Compared to back East stuff, this is utterly fantastic. There’s a crack somewhere on it. I remember when I took it off back in the early 1980s. When I looked at it just now, I couldn’t see it. This is the only one I’ve ever had, so I must be getting’ old, or going blind. It’s 2009. You’re not going to find a nicer one anywhere on earth, in any junk yard. Trust me. Buy it, bolt it on, and go cruise already. Make me proud, dude! P.S. –Oldsmobiles rule, baby!
