This fits the rear end finish panel of the 1963 Oldsmobile Starfire. (I think) It’s a chrome-plated pot-metal part. It’s about 60 inches long. The part number on back is 4875160. On the back someone wrote “63 98 trunk only”. That’s just not true. If you look at pages 5, 6, and 7 of the 1963 full-line Oldsmobile dealership catalog, you can plainly see that the 98 series had the back-up lights mounted in this piece. Also, the cutout for the trunk key was just that, a cut out, while this piece has a hole. If you look at the rear or the ‘63 Starfire on page 18 of the same catalog, it clearly shows this piece. So, that’s what I’m selling it as. If anyone out there in Internet-land knows better, please let me know. Thanks.
CONDITION-WISE. This part is by and large nearly 100% pit-free on the outward surfaces. It’s just not super-duper mega nice any more. Oh. It’s great, and all that, but it’s just not super reflective. If you live in the rust belt, you probably think I’m nuts, and consider this piece “mint”. It’s not. Also, there is a little bit of physical damage. It appears like the owner got drunk one night, and couldn’t find the key hole in the dark, so he sort of scratched the chrome a little bit near the key hole. Also, there are 2 teeny-tiny cracks inside of the key hole. They are barely visible from the rear. You can best see them from the front. They won’t be very obvious in the “as-installed” position. Except for that one little scratch, this is a darn nice find. You’re going to love it.
