This is the rear quarter panel emblem for above stated car. I believe it is the driver’s side because it “leans” to the left, or forward position indicating motion. I should know better. I drove a ’60 Super 88 back in 1986. There is a definite “right” and “left” part on the 1960 Olds. The part number on back reads “PT – 4782249”.

I personally removed this during one of my first 2 visits to Phoenix in 1977 or 1980. It then hung on the wall of our garage for about 40 years, or so. The car was sent to the junkyard probably around 1970 or so. That’s my guess. It had crashed.

Condition wise, this thing is absolutely, positively, hysterically, insanely gorgeous. There is NOT a nicer used one of these for sale anywhere on the planet. All 6 of the mounting prongs look A-OK. No problems, there. I can NOT see even one single pit on this thing. It’s just stunning. It needs to be cleaned up a little with some 0000 grade steel wool, but that’s it.

To keep from losing my mind I usually do this kind of work while sitting on my couch during a 3 hour long sporting event with a towel on my lap, and the part to be cleaned on top of it. It makes it easier on the old legs and back that way. At the pace that I work, this would take me about an hour or 2 to clean it up. You can do it, too. Be careful.

This thing might be the single most fragile die cast pot metal part ever made by GM. That’s no joke, people. This is absolutely the nicest example remaining. Scoop it up now before I change my mind, and return it to the wall of my garage, next to my ‘65 Starfire 4 speed convertible. That’s right, BEE-OTCH. Code “D” light blue metallic with white top and interior. I rule, you drool! NYUK, NYUK!
