Has anyone tried to use vinyl&fabric paint on a convertible top??

 

I would guess that because of the movement folds etc of a convertible top that it wouldn't hold up.

 

I did this on a convertible top long time ago.
And it worked as long as i had the car. The top
on the Firebird was white and i painted it black.

 

Why?!

 

Tried to clean it but it looked bad , looked much better after been painted.

 

Paint covers what it is applied to as a coating , or layer
vinyl expands & contracts considerably when top is switched
paint will not
Much better choices exist

I use a product call Black Top to rejuvenate my tops(mostly sport cars and not a radical color change) works better than anything I have ever used. Easy to apply, dries quick, doesn't peal and so far it has lasted over a year.. You might try it on a small area to see if the white to black is possible, maybe multi coats...Tedd
