will my compressor keep up when spraying

I have a compressor that is rated at 5 cubic feet a minute with 2 1/2 hp it's a 110 volt unit with 21 gal tank, will it support a conventional cup gun(Bink's 19) or equal. This would be mostly used for small jobs and priming frames and stuff, nothing larger than a hood or quarter panel, any experience or advise ...Tedd

i very much doubt it with a conventional gun because they take more air pressure..u might be able to get by with a hvlp style gun but still would hafta spray a lil at a time

The compressor flow rate should be rated at a certain psi. Then look up the cfm for your gun at the pressure you like to use. The compressor should be rated higher than your gun at equal or higher psi. For small parts, you could probably get away with a lower cfm on the compressor due to the tank volume, but not a large piece like a hood or frame.
