What goes with a red interior?

Firefly really needs to be spruced up. Paint is much better in pics than in person. And since bodywork/dents/rust will be getting addressed, paint is also on the idea board. My big issue is the interior is red (I like a red cloth interior so that isn't changing). As far as I can tell, my only options are repaint it white or change to black. As much as black is one of the hardest colors to do and maintain, it'll show off the chrome and stainless. And it'll look cool.

Blue would clash badly and I'm not sure about a redish burnt orange would work.

Yes, I am going to redo the woodgrain. Not the stock vinyl...its like Ikea wood. Probably something with a redish hint to it if I do black. If it was the orange, then a darker brown woodgrain.

What do you people think? Just asking for input.

Here is an 88 Buick color chart. Maybe Claret red?

Silver or gray works with red interior.

I'd go for the Beechwood or Saddle browns given all of the wood tone on the inside plus either will be OK with the red. I don't see enough grey on the interior to carry the grey color outside. Otherwise I'd go for gray.

Of course my wife tells me I may as well be color blind when it comes to what color goes with what other color(s) I do know enough to know that whatever color is on the outside has to carry over to the inside to avoid clashing...my wife told me so.

Or, to be different but not totally weird, dark blue and red is a nice combo that was found on sports cars a number of years ago.

If it were mine (in order of preference) :

Gray - a platinum/alloy all the way up to a darker charcoal.
Black - regular or metallic.
Red - medium all the way up to a darker black cherry.

I've always been of the mindset that woodgrain is best kept INSIDE the car.

The non-woodgrain wagons are far & few between & IMHO it's a nice treat when you stumble upon a nice one these days.

A nice compromise might be a two-tone theme ..... with paint replacing the woodgrain.

At that point I'd consider throwing silver back into the mix - as it's a nice compliment to the colors above.

I vote either silver or black.

Wow. Really appreciate all the feedback.

Black is still the stronger color, but Claret Red looks good on it.

I wouldn't rule out a shade of brown and I am intrigued by a dark charcoal grey or cyber gray. Just would have to be really dark or a shade that popped out at me.

Some samples I found:

Charcoal metallic, not stock but sharp.
Lots of different sharp versions of charcoal metallic on late model stuff.
