Painting a Ram Air Hood

I just picked up an aftermarket fiberglass Ram Air hood. It is white with some filler at the scoops. What is the correct way to paint this hood? Is it body color into the scoops or blacked out?

it shows you in the assembly manual how to paint it, also a few companies make stencil kits for it as well. The hood is body color and the stripes could be who knows what. Once again the assembly manual will tell you the "preferred" stripe color for your car but unless you have a build sheet I'm not sure you would know for sure - you can paint it any color you want - many times they match the interior, pearl interior = white stripes but do a search and you will find all kinds of neat combination's.

Does the AIM cover the painting of the openings as well? I know it covers the stripe location and layout.

oh I see what you are asking, inside the scoops is black - I am pretty sure, I'll check my car, it is a pretty obvious delineation of where the body color stops and the inside of the scoops turn black

Steven is right; the inside of each scoop is black, though i've seen restorations where everything was painted body color. You mentioned there's some filler on it. How finished or close to correct are the scoop entries? Some of these aftermarket hoods are very sloppy especially where we're talking about.

They vary and will require a little work but they are not bad.

Steven... Thanks. That will help. It looks like the masking wraps forward on the sides. Should make for a good look.
