paint code
i asked this question in the body/paint forum but i didnt get an answer so i will try it here....im trying to understand what the numbers mean after a paint ingredient when mixing up a new color, for example; flop control agent 253.0 or coarse aluminum 78.0 what do the numbers represent?

Those represent a volume/weight amount of any given tint. They don't necessarily represent the ACTUAL volume/weight of the material in that the mix formulas are cumulative...meaning...
First tint/color...say it calls for "15" - you put the empty can on the paint mixing scale and "zero out" the scale to eliminate the can weight. Then you pour in enough of this first material to get the scale to 15.
Second tint/color...let's say the number next to that is 60. Well, your scale is already reading 15 so you pour in enough of this #2 tint to get the scale to 60. So...60 isn't the actual amount....what you've added is 45 of whatever weight value the scale has.
Third tint/color, Fourth, etc....same as the second...it's a CUMULATIVE value that each of those numbers represents.
Maybe that helps describe it. If the numbers next to each tint/color in the formula are progressively higher as you go down the list then I'm pretty sure they represent the "cumulative" formulation I describe above.
