Hi all want to confirn that black is my original color.
The paint tag it has a b is that for black? or is is a number? like 946?

B is usually for Black vinyl top on 70-72 cars. What's the two digit number before the B? If it's 19, then your car was originally Ebony Black.

The three digit code like 946 is typically the interior color/trim level. (vinyl, cloth, bench/buckets, etc.)

Thanks it did have a vinyl i removed it.

The paint code for black is 19. If your car came with a vinyl top,then it will have te 2-digit paint code,plus a single letter for the vinyl top color.

Code 58 is Burnished Gold. The B is for black vinyl top.

 

58 = Burnished Gold Lower Body Color

 

Burnished gold is the darkest of the 4 golds offered that year.It almost looks light brown by itself,but when you have a black top,or black stripes to accent it,it will make it appear lighter.
I think it would also look cool with the 70 gold stripe color offered in 70,and with gold interior.
