Interior Paint

I have a '71 Cutlass Supreme convertible that is green on green. I want to add kick panel speakers to it but they only come in black.

Where does a fellow find the right color paint for these ?

You can get an "okay match" rattle can paint from OPG or Year One for about 15 bucks a can. This might be okay for hidden, shady areas like kick panels.

If you are doing armrest bases or other parts that are right against colored upholstery, a custom-mixed can of paint should be obtained.
There is a lot said here:

and here:

I ran into this question several months ago when my "exact color code" paint from Year One did not match the real car color. I did one seat belt boot and the seat heater switch housings I fabbed up.
Of course, not all colors and brands my be off as much as mine...

If you are doing only the kick panels i might get a can of the cheaper stuff and spray a test piece of plastic to check the color. Who knows, it could be close enough. If you follow the directions, it is easy to apply and is more durable than I thought...

I will be going the custom mixed route for my armrest bases since they are right up against new door panels...

If you have an assembly manual you can get the paint code for your interior color then take it to a paint shop and they will mix it up for you. They will probably laugh at you for bringing in such an old code but I got mine matched for my 70 dark green ok. I'm not sure if 70 and 71 would be the same code, if so I can dig up the number for you.

I did the interior at different times, w/different methods. My wife paid for the front seats (buckets from a Toyota), the back had already been done, in the original color, before I changed the whole interior/exterior color scheme. So. Went to my local parts store, and bought Plastikote plastic spray paint (eventual interior color was grey), and fortunately it matched the reupholstered colors perfectly. Also worked on the kick panels, door panels, etc. etc. You cannot tell the difference. Having said all of the above, I would suggest you take something from the interior to see if it matches the top of the paint can at your local (good) parts store....you might luck out, as I did.
