Good job. There is nothing like learning and doing the job yourself.

If you can paint a color like that in Single Stage, and make it come out nice, you can make anything look nice! Learning to paint metallics in SS is difficult. I believe everyone should try it at least once.....will be a good learning experience!

Really nice!
Actually Olds offered the Briar color in several model years, but it wasn't widely seen. Most of the time that I've seen Briar, it's been on the B Bodies. 98 models are very striking in this color when matched with a darker brown vinyl roof.
The hood you've got is worth a good coin. It's for the 83/84 Hurst Olds. Does the car have the rallye pac gages? They come up for sale every so often fairly cheap.
Glad it's back on the road. So, what made you decide on chevy power under the hood? Just curious.

My dad had an 84 Celebrity in that color...at least it looks like the same. My friend also had an 84 Monte Carlo...2 tone...dark brown on top and Briar on the bottom. Both cars had dark brown interiors. I remember my dad being so proud when he ordered it (it was a company car) because it was a "new" color at the time...lol

Great job on the paint! Looks beautiful.

Can't wait to see it finished. Nice to know it's going to have a 455 transplant. I agree that its not worth keeping the 307 in it. A temporary chevy engine isn't going to kill it while you continue to enjoy the car. Keep up the great work.

Very nice job. I had an early 80s 98 2 door with that color. I didn't know the name of it then, so I called it "champagne".
