color under hood vents

What is the correct color to paint under neath the hood vents on a 1969 442 hood. Is it the factory body color or are they black? thanks.

On my '69 it's the factory body color. But someone else needs to chime in here - my hood was painted in WA when I was in S. Carolina and I'm not sure of the quality control that took place. I received a top quality paint and body work on my '69 so I don't have any reason to believe that area got painted incorrectly. However, in looking at the hood vents on my '69, common sense is sending me a signal that the area underneath should be a flat black. The metal pieces that are visible under the rear hood vent on my '68 are a flat black color.

Yours is a good question and I hope others truly have the right answer!
