Hi All,
I have a 67 Delta 88 Custom 4 door in Australia and have been told that to get the front screen out will 90% result in to breaking.

As I'm told there's about 4 of these vehicle in Australia all up I can assume there wont be a windscreen sitting on a shelf right now.

It has been suggested to me that a similar year Chev one might be the same ?

Can anyone tell me of a US manufacturers website that might tell me if any Chev screens will fit ?

Is a front screen, Aussie for a windshield?

If you are patient, you will probably be ok removing it.
I have never tried removing a windshield in 1 piece, but I imagine a Heat gun may help soften the crud.
Anyone else?

 

I have personally removed about half a dozen Olds windshields using music wire to cut the adhesive and have not had a problem.

I think I have found a windscreen guy who gives a damn ... but I'm still interested in whether something else would fit ... just in case.

 

You must be patient and go slow. Dig/Scrape thru the seal in a spot. Then as Joe said push a wire thru. Have someone inside and someone outside. Wrap the wire ends around a piece of broom handle to save the hands from cuts and use a sawing action to cut the seal all the way around. Do this on an angle that cuts the seal and doesnt rub the glass. For cutting I have had success with mig welding wire as well. If the seal is original it wont be sticky. Dont push on the glass till its loose all the way around. Very little pressure will be required to remove the glass.

 

Ok, this is the third time I have tried to respond to this and I keep getting told my reply is too short. I have removed windshields and rear windows a couple of times. I recently did it on my 69 Cutlass donor car. As stated you have to be careful when making that first hole but after that it's not too bad. I used a guitar string once and I actually used weed eater string this last time. The weed eater string did work but not as well as the guitar string because it started melting. I figured the plastic would make it less likely to break the glass.

P.S. Don't have any pots of gold before hand! : -)

 

Actually, I use music wire and simply push it through with a needle nose pliers. I have since picked up one of those special tools for cutting the adhesive, but I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet.
