'63 F-85 Brake Question
After being in storage for a few years I started the car and brake pedal went to floor. I replaced slave cylinder (needed it) and problem still persists. When I clamp vacuum line from brake pedal I get some resistance but when I start the car all resistance is lost. No fluid leaks so seems to be vacuum related - any ideas? I replaced all vacuum hoses and checked for leaks. Thank you in advance.

Are you sure t don't just need bled? if not, you likely have a hole in a line or a bad wheel cylinder. If they have never been rebuilt it is past time to be done. The rebuild kits are cheep for those wheel cylinders. I think you can get them from Rock Auto for less than $5 per kit. It is not going to be a vacuum issue.

I've gotten the job started and looks like there is a worn anchor/pivot plate (holds springs from both shoes and pivots on anchor pin). As a result one shoe is very worn, the other is fine. Any idea where to get one of these? I'll post pic shortly.

I likely have anything you need in used condition. I would need to see the picture. I have a full plate for the next week so PM me to remind me if I am not back to you or you don't find one in the next couple days.

I have N.O.S. ++Asbestos++ Brake Shoes -- Front + Rear -- for this car.... Not wise to use the new garbage that the "regular world" has to sell -- they will rip your drums to smithereens....

I've attached pics of the part I'm looking for, any ideas would be extremely helpful. Another question is has anyone separated the hub from the drum? I can't get them apart.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I suspect that this is not your problem. These are made with an oblong hole in them I believe. I will have to look at my parts again. Many times one shoe will wear faster than the other. How much difference is there between the two shoes?

I'd say one pad is a third thicker than the other, you can kind of see the difference in the pic. That being said the brakes have never been a problem over the years and the pads are from the '90s.
The more I look at it the oval does look pretty symetrical and I didn't find any metal shavings in drum - a pic to verify would be super helpful though.
Thank you!
