64 Starfire twins
This wouldn't be a common site, two 64 starfires, let alone same color. I met this gentleman at a local show so we arranged to meet up at the Gilmore museum, they do an informal Wednesday night cruise in.
Same fern mist, same interior. The Lansing built car (wire hubcaps) has no A/C but does have rear defrost. Mine is Southgate built so has A/C.
Really very interesting to compare the 2 and see what is right and not so right on my new Starfire. We got a lot of attention with these.

Out on the fender is correct for all the 64's I've seen in pictures. Hard to see but the wire hupcap car has a slightly different hood ornament too. I've not seen any others like it. The gentleman did a multi-year resto on that car, apparently it was pretty rusty. Looks great now.
On the other hand his front fender vents are painted correctly, mine are not. And I found out that the deeper areas of the grill should be silver painted, not bare chrome like mine is. I checked a bunch of starfire pictures and the silver on the grill is correct. Maybe a winter project for me.

The other guys car looks to have a standard 64 hood spear. All 88 models and Jetstar 1. Yours is correct for Starfire. 98 if I remember right have a third type. Yes, mirrors are a remote/manual thing. Also, the top fender trim is specific for either option. There is a hole in the trim corresponding to the mirror base. Each rides on the ridge of the fender or door.

That's pretty neat, Dan. And you (and I) learned something new in the process. I'm fixin' to give my grille a little facelift, but the original patterns are still distinguishable; so shouldn't be too difficult. Man, they had some fasteners in those old front ends.... Never seen a grille with so many components before.
A lot of folks with '64s get the paint scheme of the side coves wrong, so don't feel too bad....
