interior question

Im wondering if my 79 omega came with a center console in it. I saw a pic on one but it was a floor shifter set up. Mines on the coloum.

Yes, it was an option for 79, along with sport wheel and SX package.

To more specifically answer your question, I suspect that YOUR car did not come with a console. As Allan points out it was an available, extra cost option.
