Difference

Is the main difference between a 62 f85, and a 63 f85 the wheelbase?
From what I understand they stretched the wheelbase from 62 to 63, but I dont know by how much. Am I on the right page? Basically, I'm hunting a parts car for my 63...

The body panels share nothing between the two years, and was '63 the first year for body on frame? Might have been '64.

The wheelbase is the same 1961-63 at 112" .The '63 body is a little longer and is still a unibody. 1964 started with a full chassis.

The body panels are different below the beltline. The roof and windows are the same for all three years. The steering linkage is different on 63s than on 61-62 cars. The 63s use a conventional center link with tie rod ends. The 61-62 cars use a drag link with ball fittings held in with spring loaded adjustable cups. 63s have alternators, 61-62s have generators.

Ok, thanks to all. So, from what I understand I can use a 62 hood for a 63?
But that leaves one more question. Do the bumpers interchange?

No Hood and Bumpers are totally different. 1963 is pretty much it's own car

Here's the two...not too much to interchange.

I'll try this again:

FYI, the "beltline" is the bottom of the side glass, the part of the door where you rest your elbow. In other words, only the glass and roof is the same, as I stated above.

Thanks for clarifying that Joe, I was hoping the belt line was lower.
My optimistic view was blurred..

Thanks for the pics. As the saying goes "a picture says a thousand words", which roughly relates to keep looking for parts car. Damn the luck
