73 omega stalling under load

Forgive me as im new to classic cars fellas, trying my best to learn. I have a 73 omega with a 350 v8 with rochester 2g carb. I decided to take it for a longer trip which involved a couple hills, the car runs fine and retains a good operating temp of about 180 on flatish ground, the moment the car encounters a grade how ever it will start bucking and getting hot which leads to a stall shortly thereafter and not starting again without a cooldown period. Ive replaced every vacuum line that i could, the car idles smooth, i have noticed that acceleration lags momentarily from a stop before a slight surge then stays good. Ive replaced all plugs and wires, changed the oil, the radiator and water pump a flowing good, the thermostat is operating as it should. Ive read that the 2g suffers from float levels on grades, is there a way to get it to work for now? I will be replacing the intake manifold and upgrading to a 650cfm holley, unfortunately im not there monetarily at the moment. As i said the car will not overheat, but the bog upon acceleration from a stop and overheating after a climb is concerning. Im only 28 and new to working on carburated motors but any advice and guidance is greatly appreciated.

Also wanted to add, air filter and fuel filter are new, as well as the fuel tank and premium fuel is currently being used as well as k100 additive on the last fill to help clean the carb out til rebuild kit arrives

Chevy or Olds 350 or? How hot does it get?

If it has sat for an extended period go through the carb before doing anything else.

Probably worth testing the fuel pump volume and pressure or replace it if is ancient.

olds 350, it sat for a while, fuel pump was next on my list as its stock, even with 25k original miles a lot was gunked up on this thing. It climbed to about 220 before i got to level ground to let it cool. The engine compartment was very hot, with some smoke coming out of the carb, i couldnt feel any back fires but im assuming due to the grade it ran real lean, either from lack of supply from the pump or the bowl not conatining enough fuel due to its position from level

25k original miles...sweet! Pics?

If you have doubts about cooling system cleanliness causing the temp to rise consider using CRC ThermoCure, it works well.

I've never had float level problems with the 2 barrel.

i flushed the coolant system and everything was flowing properly, tstat was flushing when it needed to, i guess my other concern might be a frozen egr valve, which along with the fuel pump and fuel lines i will be replacing. The plan with the car is get it running well as a daily, and prgressively build it into a sleeper. The body wasnt in great shape but i kind of dig the drab unsightly look. I believe it started as a detective car in NYC and sat in a barn in bethel maine since 1992, which i then purchased it from. Shes nothing super pretty, but like i said i like the unsightly look, regardless of whether the coolant system is operating as i should, i do still plan on replacing the cooling components before adding power to attempt to avoid shooting myself in the foot and having to anyway

Also only 3 half dollar spots of surface rust, that havent rotted through, was super stoked about that on a steel car in Maine. Also had a lee lf24 oil filter on it before i changed the oil, gave my dad a chuckle as for how long it sat
