64 Starfire - really hot console

Something I've been noticing with the starfire is how hot the console gets right where the center mounted power window controls are. Johnny Carson would want to know"how hot is it"?
I don't know, but pretty hot. Like you almost want to pull your hand away hot.
Common thing with these or should i be looking into this deeper?

My car (63 98 custom sport coupe) gets hot when driving and you can't hold your hand on it very long. I figured it was dual exhaust and transmission heat so I don't worry about it.

I have never noticed heat as a problem, I would check that out. If its from exhaust or transmission heat you may have a damaged or missing boot around the shift linkage opening. If it is heat from the power window switches that is a potentially dangerous electrical problem!
