62 Starfire Wheel Covers

I'm getting ready to get new tires. The 62 Starfire wheel covers have an incredibly bad design and are held on by clips in the rim. Does anybody have an easy way to get these off? Have tried and after they are pried away initially from the rim, I cant get the clips loose without fear of breaking them. Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

Repro clips are available should you break one, but once the cap is popped away from the wheel all way around and tension is off the clips the wheelcover should lift right off without much effort.

I never was a fan of those things. The issues Olds created trying to get a smooth no-fasteners look... I mean, how many people even notice valve stems unless they're airing up a tire?

I'd try to get them off before a tire monkey that's never seen such tries to. I think I'd order a set of clips from Fusick too just in case. When you put the hateful things back on, a little grease on the end that clips to the wheelcover might help in the future.
